LADY Gaga’s comeback exploded on to the airwaves worldwide today.
While the retro ‘80s pop rock flavour polarised her Little Monsters, it was the lyrics of Perfect Illusion that had everyone talking.
It sounds like Gaga may have taken a leaf out of the ex-files to address her recent split with fiance Taylor Kinney.
“It wasn’t love, it wasn’t love, it was a perfect illusion ... mistaken for love, it wasn’t love, it was a perfect illusion,” she belts out, raw and loud in the chorus.
Gaga confirmed in July the pair had called time out on their relationship after five years, telling fans on social media that “We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared.”
It has been three years since Gaga’s last solo outing with the Artpop album, followed by her Cheek To Cheek duets collaboration with Tony Bennett in 2014
Since then she has devoted her creative energies to her acting career, starring in two series of American Horror Story and winning a Golden Globe for her first outing.
Gaga has now signed on to star in Bradley Cooper’s remake of the 1954 musical film A Star Is Born, which was again revisited by Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson in 1976.
Before she begins shooting next year, we can expect Gaga to reveal her long-awaited fifth album.
Gaga enlisted a heavyweight team of producers and writers to work with on her comeback, with Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker and his mate, British hit maker Mark Ronson linking with young studio star Bloodpop, who was behind Justin Bieber’s smash Sorry.
There have been several big singles dropped this week led by Sia’s The Greatest and local pop hero Guy Sebastian unexpectedly unveiling a new sound with Candle on Friday morning.
Kings Of Leon also made a return with Waste a Moment, an anthemic rock song.
